I want to tell you about a connection I made this week when a client came to me with issues with her shoulder.
Having assessed her, sure enough, her shoulder was not moving freely, but neither was her pelvis or spine.
Now there is a process that I follow as a Biomechanics Coach. Firstly the pelvis is addressed (if there is any dysfunction). Next we address the spine, then the shoulder, then the knees and finally the feet.
So I gave my client an exercise to free the muscle spasms within her pelvis which actually changed her from having a dysfunctional pelvis to a normalised pelvis with one simple exercise.
Now because the change in her pelvis was so quick I decided to move on to her spine in the same session. This is where the magic happened. A single muscle release to the muscles either side of her spine actually released her shoulder!
I have said this before, I know the body is connected, but to actually see the connection right in front of me just gets me so excited.
And it's my job to help the client understand that the site of pain is not where we need to focus our attention. This is where we stop chasing pain and treat the cause, not the symptom.
